Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information handled when a visitor uses Eddy County Criminal History, the reasons it may be processed, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. Continued use of the privately operated site signifies acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A query entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside provider that operates the tool. That provider processes the terms and supplies its results. Eddy County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of the names or locations typed into those partner forms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If a visitor emails us, the message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.

Data We Gather Automatically

Normal server and analytics activity can capture technical details when a page loads, including:

  • Device IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • Referring site, when supplied
  • Date and time of each request

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies and analytics services help measure traffic, page use, and performance. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.

What We Do With This Data

Collected technical information may be used for the following operational purposes:

  • Operating and improving site speed
  • Sending a user-initiated query to the selected partner
  • Measuring which pages visitors use
  • Diagnosing errors and security problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Eddy County Criminal History does not maintain or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general information about official Eddy County and New Mexico custodians, including courts, local law enforcement, NMDPS LERB, NMCD, and the New Mexico DPS Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the site's search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the selected provider's privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices. Review those terms before starting a query because this policy does not control the provider's systems.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Eddy County offices, New Mexico agencies, courts, legal resources, advertisers, or search providers. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Advertising companies may also perform cross-site tracking through their own technology.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Depending on the feature used, limited information can reach:

  • A search provider that receives a submitted query
  • Analytics vendors that measure aggregated performance
  • Advertising networks that serve ads
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable standard security practices are used to protect information handled by the site. No internet service can promise absolute security, and this policy does not guarantee that a breach or technical failure will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Data identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when the issue is brought to our attention.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide a visitor with rights to ask what personal data is held, seek correction or deletion, or object to some processing. New Mexico's Inspection of Public Records Act, NMSA 1978 §§14-2-1 through 14-2-12, governs access to government records rather than private website analytics. NMSA 1978 §29-10-6 separately governs a person's inspection of their own state arrest-record information through NMDPS. Those official-record statutes do not turn this private site into a government custodian.

  • Request a copy of personal information held by us
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Request deletion where the law permits
  • Opt out of processing where an applicable right exists

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A replacement becomes available on this page with its current effective date, so visitors should review it when privacy practices matter to their use.
