Call before appearing. Confirm which location handles the registration task, whether an appointment is needed, and which identity and court papers to bring. The county lists its main contact on the Sheriff contact page and the south office on the Patrol Division page.
New Mexico deadlines can depend on the conviction date and why the person is in the state. The NMDPS FAQ says some people convicted before July 1, 2013 who are visiting reach a trigger after more than 14 days or more than 30 aggregate days in a calendar year. A person convicted after that date must register within five days. The sheriff or NMDPS should apply the rule to the actual facts.

Not every field collected by law enforcement must appear online. Work, school, internet identifier, or license data may be collected under statute but not always published. Never contact a listed location or person to test a profile. Send a factual discrepancy to the sheriff or NMDPS.
When an Eddy Search Is Empty
An empty Eddy County registry search does not prove that no relevant record exists. NMDPS warns that not every person convicted of a sex offense must register and not every registered person or field is publishable. A failed match can also stem from spelling, an alias, a move, an update in progress, the wrong county, a map-geocoding problem, or noncompliance.

A county public-record request is a different path. Registration files can contain protected personal or law-enforcement data beyond the public profile, so redaction or withholding may apply. The county lists its official public-records channel through Sheriff services. The public registry remains the source for fields approved for publication.
New Mexico Registration Levels and Requirements
New Mexico uses statutory duration categories rather than a public Tier I, II, and III risk score. The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, NMSA 1978 §§29-11A-1 through 29-11A-10, ties a ten-year or lifetime duty to the qualifying offense and repeat-offender rules. NMDPS also determines how federal, tribal, military, foreign, and out-of-state convictions translate under New Mexico law.

Eddy Residency Rules Explained
New Mexico has no statewide sex-offender residential distance rule from schools or day-care centers. A map pin near one of those places is therefore not, by itself, proof of an unlawful home.
